“Hey man! We are finally in the heart of Pakistan.” Masood, my good buddy shouted and woke me up from a deep and sweet slumber. His voice perturbed me as I was dreaming like a small kido who usually has a dream in childhood to be a successful person.
Hurriedly, I opened my eyes and the cold morning winds of Lahore welcomed us. I got down the car and thus our long and cumbersome journey came to the finishing point, though we were going to get ourselves registered in another race- CSS exam.
It is the race which compelled us to wander in the historical city of Pakistan. We had said good-bye to Karachi, left our native abode, friends and parents. We had heard a famous phrase about Lahore, "Jisnay lahore nai waikha, wo jamia nai.” The phrase made us more curious to observe the uniqueness about the city which had conferred the city with a splendid title.
Initially, to find a good hostel was our first and tedious job in the city. We had to be the part of the city for two months and we were about to pay visits to some notable teachers. Fortunately, with the help of Ansar (our first friend in the city) we found a reasonable and good hostel in the Ichra market and thus we became the member of the community and Ichra became our hot point for meal and shopping.
Surprisingly, Mission impossible became possible- to fix meeting with the renowned teachers, with the help of Tayyab (another new friend in the city). Undoubtedly, it was a strenuous task for us strange people. Ansar was man of words and time, within four days we had meetings with the all teachers and had joined the classes. Interestingly, we were getting familiarity with the Punjabi language. “Oh gal ta sunn, ki haal hai jigar” were frequently used.
Furthermore, ferozpur road in Lahore brought the image of M.A. Jinnah road in my mind when I was going to attend first class of geography on 6th November. The road was full of vehicles and signals after every kilometer. I reached late in the class by five minutes. It went very good.
Though, the cold winds of the city had welcomed us warmly but we could not endure the coldness of the water while taking shower in early morning. We were used to take shower with warm water in Karachi. Thus, taking shower with cold water made us to visit the first hospital of the city-Fatima welfare hospital. The doctor prescribed me some medicines and advised to take for one week. The medicines were worked and I was again fully fit to study.
People sleep at night and make gossips in the dream. But here, on the other hand, the circumstances were different. It was our daily routine to dive into the ocean of the knowledge and write down the notes.“Music is the food of the soul.” I had carried laptop to feed the soul with the music of Enrique, Atif, Abida parveen and etc. In addition, we badly needed a computer to browse the internet for the preparation.
I have seen many Facebook lovers but Waqar is the on the top of the list of the lovers. It is a common phrase that a man can live without food for twenty three days but my friend- Waqar cannot live a single day without updating his status and commenting on the popular social networking website.
After staying one week in the hostel, our study stamina has accelerated. Four months are left to the competition. Our die hard struggle is to cross the winning line with marvelous score. It is the fate which has given us another opportunity to fight in the race again. Who knows this race might be the last race but the winning one. What would be life if we had no courage to compete in any race.
